How to Attract More Local Clients for Medical Aestheticians and Estheticians
Struggling to book more local clients? These 7 actionable marketing moves help estheticians and medical aestheticians get seen by clients nearby.
Your talent doesn't fill the books. Your visibility does.
Attracting local clients isn't about being better than the pro down the street. It's about being seen — by anyone who comes into contact with you or your business, whether they were thinking about booking or not.
A comment on a post. A tagged location. A Google search at 11pm. Every one of those is a moment someone becomes a potential client in your eyes, whether they know it yet or not.
Visibility is a long game when it comes to your business — but luckily, it doesn't have to be a stressful one. Here are six moves to get more local eyes on you.
1. Own Your Google Business Profile
This is where new clients decide before they ever land on your Instagram. Photos, hours, services, and reviews all live here — and it's free.
If yours is half-filled out, you're handing bookings to the aesthetic pro down the street who took the 20 minutes to finish hers.
Your to-do list:
Fill out every field (hours, services, service area)
Upload 10+ recent, real treatment room photos
Reply to your last 5 reviews (or ask 5 clients for one)

2. Show Up Where Local Eyes Already Are
Community boards, local Facebook groups, neighborhood markets or networking groups — your ideal client is already scrolling or strolling through them. These events and attractions make for great content, but not all marketing is done on your keyboard. Get out in your local area.
You don't need a huge following to book out locally. You need to be visible in the key places your ideal clients frequent.
Your to-do list:
Join 2 local Facebook or community groups
Optimize your fb profile by ensuring your profile picture isn’t you at a party in highschool, update some privacy settings so your pictures are hidden to just friends and add a little bio about who you are in the treatment room and outside of it and then add your business to your job section
Search the fb group past posts for the keyword “skincare”. Authentically answer some past questions people have asked. No promo. Just value. If they want to learn more, they will click your fb profile, and since you linked your business page under your work in 2 clicks, they'll be on your business page.
3. Turn Your Treatment Room Into Local Proof
Before/afters build trust. Before/afters tagged at your location build local trust.
Geo-tag your posts and stories every time. It's a five-second habit that keeps your work in front of the exact algorithm audience you want — people nearby.
Your to-do list:
Turn on location tag for your next 5 posts
Geo-tag every story, not just feed posts
Use the same exact location name each time so it keeps surfacing as a suggestion
4. Say Your City Name Out Loud... Often
"Aesthetic professional" is a job title. But these are search results:
"Aesthetic professional in [Your City]"
"Laser tech in [Your City]"
"Esthetician in [Your City]"
"Waxer in [Your City]"
Put your city in your bio, your captions, your alt text. Local clients are typing your neighborhood into the search bar — make sure you show up.
Your to-do list:
Add your city/neighborhood to your IG bio
Mention your city in your next 3 captions
Write alt text with your city + service on new posts
Mentioning your city is so important I end every caption in the Esti Content Club with some sort of local-specific keyword. Click here for more details about the ECC.
5. Make Referrals Easy, Not Awkward
Clients want to refer you. Most just forget, or don't know what to say to their friends. Give them the words.
Your to-do list:
Write a quick script you can repeat to your clients at checkout with your referral program details. Make it something you can say easily, without any pauses or shifting eye contact.
Print out a welcome offer card or complimentary add-on and give 3 to your client to share with their friends
Mention it out loud at your next 5 checkouts — your clients won't find this awkward, they'll appreciate the reminder
Try this:"If you're loving your results, I'd love it if you told a friend. Just have them mention your name when they book."
6. Partner, Don't Compare
The hairstylist, the candle/soap/oils maker, the clothing store, the boutique gym down the block — they already have your future clients in their chairs or on their follower list.
One cross-referral partnership beats a month of cold content.
Your to-do list:
List 3 complementary local businesses nearby
DM or visit one this week with a simple swap offer or partnered promo
Create a referral card with a code to hand out
I believe local collabs can be life-changing for a business. That's why I have a whole page of local collaboration ideas for aesthetic pros in the Esti Content Club. Click here for more details about the ECC.
Bonus: Engage With the Businesses Your Ideal Clients Already Visit
You don't have to wait for a formal partnership to start building local visibility. Follow, comment on, and genuinely engage with the accounts your ideal client already follows — the boutique fitness studio, the local coffee shop, the candle/soap/oils shop, your fav local bookstore, the list goes on and on!
Showing up in their comments (as yourself, not spammy) puts your name in front of an audience that's already primed to care about how they look and feel. It's free, it takes minutes a day, and it warms up the relationship before you ever ask for a partnership or referral.
Your to-do list:
Make a list of 5 local businesses your ideal client follows
Save one of their posts into a folder on Insta and name it “engage with”
Follow and engage authentically with their last 3 posts
Revisit that folder and check out each page’s most recent content 1x weekly and leave a genuine, specific comment (not just an emoji)
