How to Get More Google Reviews | Free Copy + Paste Scripts Included
If you've ever finished a facial or wax, watched your client glow on their way out the door, and then completely forgotten to ask for a review... you're not alone. Most aesthetics professionals know reviews matter. Few have an actual system for getting them.
Here's the truth: reviews aren't about luck. They're about timing. The best time to ask a client for a review isn't when you happen to think of it. It's in the window right after their appointment, while their skin is still glowing and the experience is still fresh.
Below are three tools you can put into place this week: a text script, an email script, and printable signage. Together they build a simple system so you're not relying on memory (or awkward in-person asks) to grow your reviews.
Why the 1-Hour Window Matters
Right after a facial, your client is looking in the mirror loving their skin. Right after a wax, they're feeling smooth and confident. That emotional high fades fast, usually within a few hours. If you wait until their next appointment to ask, you've missed it.
Texting your client about an hour after they leave catches them at the peak of that "wow, my skin looks amazing" feeling, which makes them far more likely to actually leave a review, and a genuinely glowing one.
The 3-Part System
1. The text message sent 1 hour post-treatment, while the glow is fresh.
2. The email sent to your broader community, for clients who may not have booked recently or who prefer email.
3. The printable in your treatment room or at your front desk, planting the seed before they even leave.
Use all three together. The text catches the emotional peak. The email catches people you haven't seen in a while or those who have yet to provide a review. The printable primes the ask so it never feels out of nowhere.
Script 1: The Text Message (Send 1 Hour After Their Appointment)
Keep it short, warm, and easy to act on. One tap should take them straight to leaving a review.
Hi [Client Name]! It was so good to see you today. I hope you're loving how your skin feels right now. 🌸 If you have 30 seconds, would you mind leaving a quick Google review? It genuinely helps my small business so much: [Google Review Link]
Thank you. See you next time! -[Your Name]
Tips for using this script:
Set a recurring reminder or automation (many booking systems like Vagaro, Boulevard, or GlossGenius allow scheduled post-appointment texts) so this goes out consistently without you having to remember.
Personalize with their first name and, if you have room, a specific detail about their treatment ("your skin is going to keep glowing from that hydrafacial").
Keep the link as short and clickable as possible. A shortened URL works well here.
Script 2: The Email (Send to Your Email Community)
This one is for your broader list, including clients who haven't booked in a while or who are more likely to check email than text.
Subject line options:
Would you do me a quick favor?
30 seconds that would mean so much
A small ask from me to you
Email body:
Hi [First Name],
I wanted to reach out with a small favor to ask.
If you've had a treatment with me recently and loved how your skin felt afterward, would you mind sharing that in a quick Google review? It takes about 30 seconds, and it genuinely makes a difference for a small business like mine. Reviews help other people in our community find me and feel confident booking their first appointment.
Here's the link, it goes straight to the review box: [Google Review Link]
Thank you so much for being part of my client community. I don't take it for granted.
[Your Name]
Tips for using this script:
Send this as a standalone email rather than tacking it onto a promotional email. Asks that get buried under a sale or a new service announcement tend to get ignored.
If you use an email platform with click tracking, you can see who clicked the link and consider a light personal follow-up with your most loyal clients.
Script 3: Copy for Your Printable (Treatment Room or Front Desk)
Printable Copy: Two Versions
Below are two versions of printable copy: one that simply asks for a review, and one that offers a small incentive. Read the important note before choosing the incentive version.
Version A: Non-Incentivized (Recommended, Google-Compliant)
Keep this short, visual, and easy to scan. A QR code linking directly to your Google review page works beautifully here.
Headline options:
Loved your treatment today?
Enjoyed your visit?
Glowing? We'd love to hear about it.
Body copy:
If you enjoyed your time with us today, we'd be so grateful for a quick Google review. It helps other clients find us and helps our small business grow.
Scan the code below, it takes less than a minute!

Thank you for trusting us with your skin.
Tips for using this printable:
Place it somewhere clients naturally have a moment of downtime: on the treatment room ceiling (great for facials, since clients are lying down), at the front desk near checkout, or in the waiting area.
Print it as a small tabletop sign or a single framed page. It doesn't need to be elaborate to work.
Pair it with the text and email scripts rather than relying on it alone. The printable plants the idea; the text and email close the loop.
One thing to keep in mind: Google's current guidance discourages actively pressuring clients to leave a review while they're still on the premises (this includes handing someone a tablet or asking them to scan a code before they walk out the door). A passive sign they can act on later, or at home, is the safer approach. Framing your printable as an invitation rather than an on-the-spot ask keeps you in line with this.
Version B: Incentivized
⚠️ Important: This is against Google's review policy. Google explicitly prohibits offering a discount, free product or service, giveaway entry, loyalty points, or any other benefit in exchange for a review, whether the review is positive or simply "honest." This applies no matter how small the incentive is. Violations can result in the review being removed, a warning on your Business Profile, or your listing being suspended entirely. Use this version at your own risk, and know it's not something Google considers compliant, no matter how it's worded.
If you choose to use it anyway, here's copy that keeps the incentive general rather than explicitly transactional (this doesn't make it compliant, just less blunt):
Headline options:
Leave a review, get a little something back
Thank you for sharing your experience
Body copy:
Loved your treatment today? We'd love to hear about it! Leave us a review and let us know at your next visit for a small thank-you from us.

A safer alternative: if you want to reward clients without tying it to a specific review, consider running a general client-appreciation drawing or loyalty perk that isn't conditioned on leaving feedback at all. For example, enter every client who books a treatment that month into a drawing, regardless of whether they review you. That keeps the goodwill without the policy risk.
Putting It All Together
You don't need to overhaul your entire client experience to get more reviews. You need a simple, repeatable system that catches your client at the right moment, more than once, in more than one place.
Start with the text message script this week. It's the highest-impact piece because it hits that 1-hour glow window. Then layer in the email throughout the year for your broader list and the printable for in-room visibility.
Small, consistent asks, sent at the right time, add up to a steady stream of reviews that build trust with every new client who finds you online.
