In my 11 years working in marketing, I’ve seen a lot. But the biggest lessons didn’t come from textbooks, theory, or even my Communications degree. They came from the fast-paced world of agency life, where deadlines are tight, clients are demanding, and results matter more than opinions.

At one point, I was managing 10 clients at once. I was responsible for creating their social media content, running monthly promotions, reviewing performance, and reporting every single result back to leadership.

It was… a lot.

I always knew I eventually wanted to work for myself, but my degree in Communications was heavily theory-based. It didn’t cover:
