Over the summer, I started to feel something I didn’t expect: restless in my business. The day-to-day routines that once energized me were beginning to feel… stale. And that was confusing, because a few years ago, I would have dreamed of having the career I have today.

Last weekend, I had a session with my therapist, Carmen, and we uncovered a block I know many beauty pros experience — especially estheticians, waxers, and solo business owners.

When “Comfortable” Starts to Feel Limiting

As entrepreneurs, we create our own daily structure. There’s no supervisor handing us growth milestones. There’s no quarterly review to push us into the next level. When we become good at our routines, we often stay in them. But comfort can quietly become a cage.

This summer, that’s exactly what happened to me.

Then, at the beginning of August, I was offered the opportunity to be a guest speaker at a beauty brunch. It sounded exciting, but also outside of my comfort zone. And that’s the exact reason I said yes.

Saying yes felt like signaling to the universe: I’m ready for more.

The talk went beautifully and just a week later, an even bigger speaking opportunity landed in my inbox.

Momentum loves movement.

We Don’t Always Realize We’re Holding Ourselves Back

When I spoke to Carmen about it, she reminded me of something important:

As business owners, we are responsible for our own growth and our own ceilings.

Because we don’t have someone mapping out our career trajectory for us, we can unintentionally limit ourselves. We build invisible walls around what we think we’re “ready” for, instead of stretching into our full potential.

The roadmap is ours to create.
And if we come into it with limiting beliefs, we can accidentally keep ourselves stuck.
